What happens when you don't post for five months? Your computer crashes. Hard. And you lose all your pictures from 2014-2015 that weren't still on your camera or backed up on the external hard drive. Luckily, many of our pictures were posted on the blog until April and I still have photos on my camera since July, so we really only lost May and June 2015.
So, use your imagination and visualize a fun-filled visit from Jon, Allison, and Andrew in May. In June, Ryan turned 30 and we threw him a surprise party (although Sam spilled the beans) with some of our friends and their families. Sam finished Kindergarten and began the much-anticipated summer vacation.
This is the only remaining picture from May or June.
Andrew and Ryan bonding over a basketball game.
The 4th of July is a big deal here in Washington, and the kids have come to expect big fireworks. Austin still isn't a big fan of the loud BOOMS, but he was excited to play with Sparklers and Roman Candles. (As long as he could wear his helmet, of course.)
Run amok children!
Little Eli got to join in the fun for the first time!
Yep, the Pyromania gene is still going strong in the Walker family. We had a wonderful time celebrating with Grandma Susan and some of Ryan's friends from work.
For this round of swimming lessons Austin and Sam were in the same class. They learned a lot and were happy to show off their 'starfish floats' on parent day.
They are both becoming great swimmers!
Summer means playing in the kiddie pool,
picking raspberries,
eating things out of the garden,
and running around in a diaper or swimsuit all day. It must have been a long summer because now I can't convince the boys to wear long pants or jackets.
Sometimes, we go for rides in "Dad's Car" aka the Subaru and the boys all get to sit together. I am quickly reminded why I wanted the van in the first place.
Much of my summer energy went towards these gorgeous girls as one the YW Camp leaders. It was so much fun and so SO much work. But we had a blast!
Somehow they convinced me to do the Polar Plunge.
We took the new Beehives on a little "night hike/unofficial snipe hunt". By the end of the week, I was exhausted, but it was a great time!
While I was off at camp, the boys got to hang out with Uncle Chris. There was blood, sweat, pee, and tears, but they all survived the week :) We love you Uncle Chris!!!
Sam's newest game is called "adventuring". Almost every day he would pack up his backpack with snacks, a map, flashlights, extra clothes, and anything else he deemed essential. An adventurer also needs a hat, a water bottle, sunglasses, long pants, and a plaid shirt with pockets. If said shirt was dirty, he would pull it out of the hamper.
An adventurer also needs a buddy. Both Austin and our next-door-neighbor Grant were happy to oblige. (PS see the hole in the fence? We love it! The kids can backyard hop to their hearts' content.)
One time Sam asked to go on a real-live adventure, so we went on a little hike. And by hike, I mean walked down our street into the little patch of woods.
All the adventurers (even me!) needed their backpacks, snacks, and water.
Austin sat down to draw his discoveries on a sketch pad. But first, his name at the top. Next he drew poison ivy (although we didn't actually see any).
Along the way we found some blackberries to sample. Don't worry, we also talked about poison berries and asking a grown-up first.
Snacks always taste better on the trail.
Finally, group hugs in front of their fort. They built it together.
Stay tuned as I catch up the rest of the year :)
