Early in December, we headed up the road to a local tree farm to pick out a Christmas Tree!
Right in front they have a bunch of animals, so we had to stop and say hello to Elvis the Donkey. Sam was excited and wanted to brush him. Austin was a little nervous (note the fingers in the mouth!).
Going for a little ride around the pen.
At first Austin wouldn't go anywhere near the donkey. Of course, once he saw Sam go for a ride he was a lot more courageous. He sure loves his big brother!
Last year, we came in the evening and it was dark and cold, so we just chose one of their pre-cut trees. This year it was bright and sunny and dry, so we decided to be adventurous and cut down our own tree!
This is one of my favorite pictures.
It took some muscle, but between the two of us we cut it down pretty quickly.
Favorite moment: "Mom, look! It's Reindeer Sam!"
Helping Dad cart the big tree back to the parking lot so we could take it home!
A couple of nights later, we got out our Christmas boxes and decorated the tree for Family Night. I had two excellent helpers.
Maybe I should say two zealous helpers.
They were so excited to unwrap the ornaments that I had a hard time keeping up. There were a few casualties, but nothing a little hot glue won't fix.
The tree looked beautiful, and has since been constantly re-arranged by my two little decorators. Merry Christmas!
