As we journey to the beach, we had to cross the Lewis & Clark bridge to enter Oregon.
Here's a picture of the Lewis & Clark bridge after we crossed it.
To get to Long Beach, we had to cross one more bridge over to the Washington side of the river. This is the Astoria Bridge and below is more of the bridge.
Once we were back in Washington, we went through the tunnel. Our first stop was Cape Disappointment (which did not disappoint ironically). We had the opportunity to visit the Lewis and Clark exhibit and learned about their experiences.
Sam learned about how hard it was to pack a canoe with equipment.
He also learned that Chinook Salmon are big enough to swallow him whole.
After our visit to Cape Disappointment, we were directed to the North Head Lighthouse. It was a pretty walk that overlooked the Pacific Ocean.
Sam's favorite form of transportation.
The North Head Lighthouse
A view from the side of the lighthouse.
Sam was more interested in getting into the lighthouse. Unfortunately, you had to be older than seven years old.
This is the where the lighthouse keeper lived
Our last stop was Long Beach itself. This place was much different than any other beach we've been to. We were practically all by ourselves and the water was definitely too cold to swim in. It was nice to hear/see the waves crashing. Sam loved it! He liked running away from the water.
Sam was in heaven. He loved the sand and took a lot of it with him on his clothes.
On the beach there was a gray whale exhibit.
Sam thought it was a playground. Steph and I thought it was kind of gross.
On our way back we stopped at the Bowpicker. They had the best Fish and Chips. Instead of using halibut, they used fresh Albacore Tuna from the coast. Sam thought it was really neat to eat right next to a boat. This is absolutely a place we will take visiting friends and family.
This concludes another great day in Vancouver, and my first blog post. Please keep in mind that I am a guy and lack the creativity Steph has. However, I agree that it is important for me to contribute to the family blog. Work starts Monday and I am very excited. We all look forward to getting back into a routine again. Those who have moved can relate. We hope all is well with everyone. God bless.

Looks completely awesome. The house AND the area. And not very cloudy??? Did you guys get lucky on picture days?
Can't wait to try the Bowpicker!
The weather was very nice for a couple of days. It does rain more here than in Utah. We don't mind it so much because of how green it is here. You wouldn't believe how many evergreen trees are here.
I miss you guys. And I love Sam's little outfit!!
